Based on the New York City’s policies including the World Class Street program and other cases studies, this article introduces some innovative and effective measures NYC adopted to promote pedestrian friendly construction. It reviews NYC’s systematic and strategic planning and regulations, public survey and public participation, and design and construction for pedestrian safety, connectivity, and comfort.
