As the first report of the Greening Belt and Road Initiative project, this report analyzes and predicts the strong demand for electricity in the countries along the Belt and Road under the great potential of future economic development. The report recommends the Belt and Road countries to adopt the concept of comprehensive resource planning, which is aim to combine the supply side with the demand side to meet the actual electricity demand due to future economic and social development, and reduce excessive power development. Laos and Pakistan are selected as case countries to conduct research on comprehensive power resource planning. This report also proposes a three-phase Belt and Road green power cooperation roadmap.
