Of China’s many industrial companies, 99% are small and medium enterprises (SMEs). They are commonly characterized by weak energy management and great energy-conservation potential. To help SMEs achieve their energy-conservation potential, NRDC and the Suzhou Institute of Energy Conservation and Management (SIEM) launched the pilot project of the Strategic Energy Management (SEM) system in Suzhou in 2016.
SEM is an advanced management technique used to help companies establish energy management systems, cultivate energy-conservation culture, and realize green and low-carbon development, thereby obtaining long-term energy conservation benefits.
