In the fifth walkability report, NRDC collaborates with Dr. Long Ying’s team at the Technical Committee for Urban Big Data of the Chinese Society for Urban Studies to evaluate the improvements of walking facilities in 45 Chinese cities. By comparing street view pictures of the same site taken in different years, the report evaluates street walking facility changes of 25766 street sites using 10 indicators including the existence of sidewalks, crossing facilities, obstructions on sidewalks, etc. The report aims to present the work of cities have done in the past and provide reference for future improvements on the walking environment of Chinese cities.
