In 2015 after the release and implementation of both China’s new Environmental Protection Law and the Interpretation of the Supreme People's Court on Several Issues Concerning the Application of Law in the Conduct of Environmental Civil Public Interest Litigations, the country’s environmental public interest litigation (EPIL) slowly began to develop. Due to the number of issues that still remain to be solved for EPIL in China, in May 2016 the China Green Development Fund together with NRDC partnered to help push forward EPIL in China. Our research has primarily focused on judges from all judicial levels, prosecutorial and environmental lawyers, and inviting experts to weigh in on important EPIL and other environmental litigation topics in China.
