On December 10th, 2014, during the COP 20 climate conference in Lima, Peru, five international environmental organizations jointly released the report above. The report summarizes China’s urbanization experiences, lessons learned, and recent progress in shifting toward a more sustainable growth pattern. It underscores the significance of China’s urbanization for climate change and major environmental contributions a low-carbon city strategy can make. The report covers three topic areas: land use, transportation, and city energy use and discusses points that require greater attention and problems that need to be addressed. It also introduces a number of best practice case studies from Chinese cities. The report is jointly released by the five organizations: Environmental Defense Fund, Energy Foundation China, Institute for Sustainable Communities, Natural Resources Defense Council, and World Resources Institute.
