The inaugural roundtable features three main themes: environmental and climate friendly power sector development, smart grid and retail electricity market opportunities, and power sector transformations around the globe. Experts in the roundtable reached agreement that the future electric power sector in China should be at once safe, clean, efficient and affordable. At the same time, d-carbonization of the Chinese power sector should and will contribute significantly to global climate change actions. Therefore, due attention should be devoted to the opportunities and challenges that arise in the energy and market transformations that China’s power sector is currently undertaking. As the first of its kind in China, the roundtable provides a transparent and public platform for enhanced exchanges amongst policymakers, industrial experts, business enterprises, academics and civil representatives. It is our vision for the platform to join all stakeholders together to propel the Chinese power sector towards a decarbonized future.
