NRDC and China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA) released a report on Assessing Generation-Side Energy Storage's Comprehensive Value and Policy Support Needed for Scale-up Under China’s Dual Carbon Goals at the Western Energy Storage Forum in Xi’an, held in collaboration with China Energy Research Society, CNESA, State Grid and Huaneng on August 3.
The report assessed the technical suitability and overall value of generation-side energy storage in different scenarios; analyzed difficulties including low utilization rates, poor economic viability, and cost recovery; and provided policy recommendations for the scale-up and market development of generation-side energy storage.
Policy recommendations reached industrial experts, including the Secretary General of CNESA, the Director of Renewable Energy of Shanxi Electric Power Research Institute at State Grid, and Senior Manager of Electric Power at CHN Energy. The report was covered by key national and industrial media, such as Caixin, China Environment News (reposted by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Henan), China Power News and China Securities Journal. More than 5,000 audience members joined the report release online and offline.
