On July 3rd, 2014, NRDC released a white paper, "Prevention and Control of Shipping and Port Air Emissions in China", at a press conference attended by more than twenty representatives of state and industry media outlets. The white paper summarizes the impact of shipping and port emissions on the environment and public health, and international experiences setting policies and regulations to reduce emissions. It will serve as an important resource for China's government and key port cities. Deputy Director Ding Yan of the Ministry of Environmental Protection's Vehicle Emission Control Center attended the press conference and noted that, through better control of air emissions from ships and ports, China can not only substantially improve its air quality, but also help meet its global climate commitments.
