Barbara Finamore, Asia Director of NRDC, has joined the international team of a special study initiated by the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED). The CCICED study aims to develop a coordinated strategy for controlling air pollution and short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) from non-road emission sources. To support this effort, NRDC prepared a report summarizing international experiences addressing SLCPs (including black carbon) and air pollution from the marine sector, with a special focus on ports. At the CCICED interim conference held on June 5, 2015, in Shanghai, Barbara presented key findings from this report and offered subsequent recommendations for China. Both Chinese and international partners recognize NRDC's expertise and broad experiences with co-control of SLCPs and air pollutions from shipping and ports. Findings and recommendations from CCICED's special policy studies will be presented at a meeting with the prime minister and other State leaders at the end of the year.
