2014-04-24

On Apr. 24th, 2014, China's top legislature passed major amendments to its bedrock Environmental Protection Law, the first time since it was enacted 25 years ago. The amendments include key provisions that provide legal authority for strengthening environmental protection, including a system for daily penalties that accumulate each day of pollution violation and allowing for NGOs to bring public interest litigation.
