On August 19, 2014, NRDC hosted a workshop to discuss recommendations for amendments to China's Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law. This workshop is part of an ongoing cooperation between NRDC and the Clean Air Alliance of China (CAAC) to participate in the Air Law amendment discussion and provide input from the NGO perspective. During the workshop, American and Chinese environmental law experts exchanged knowledge and experience regarding pollution permits and penalties, explored how China can apply lessons learned from the U.S. Clean Air Act, and discussed on how to best improve China's air law. China's State Council recently released a draft of the law amendmentfor public comments. These amendments are the first changes to the law since 2000. NRDC will be submitting recommendations as part of the public comment process.
