This year is the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). To celebrate 25 years of action for bio-diversity, the Foreign Economic Cooperation Office (FECO, also known as the Environmental Convention Implementation Technical Center) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment organized a celebration event in Beijing on May 22. Over 120 representatives from various government agencies, research institutes, business and diplomatic functions and NGOs participated in the event. Besides highlighting the progress China has made in achieving the goals set by CBD, as a host country for COP15 in 2020, China is also committed to working with different stakeholders and CBD parties to make COP15 a success. 2020 is a crucial year for CBD as it will be the time for CBD to set its new action plan for next 10 years. NRDC supported this event through an introduction to our conservation projects in China, including the development of a Tiger and Leopard National Park. MEE sent a thank-you letter to acknowledge NRDC’s support to the event. NRDC will continue its work on bio-diversity protection in China and support China for a successful COP in 2020.
