NRDC released its report "Recommendations for Reform of China's Nuclear Safety Regulatory System" on March 10, 2014, commemorating the third anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear accident. China currently has the most nuclear power reactors under construction in the world, and plans to quadruple its installed nuclear energy capacity by 2020. NRDC's report emphasizes that nuclear development in China must prioritize safety first and calls for reforms to improve the independence, authority, professionalism, effectiveness, and approach of China's nuclear safety regulatory body. Ziyong Lan, Senior Engineer of the China Nuclear Energy Association, joined the press conference, where he praised the in-depth research and recommendations of the report. The release generated over a dozen media reports by Xinhua News, China Daily, and other key media outlets.
