2018-09-04

On September 4, 2018, NRDC’s Green Belt and Road (GBRI) Project released its research report entitled “Research on the Comprehensive Resource Planning of Electric Power in BRI Countries,” with 30+ reporters and experts participating. The report analyzes and predicts electricity demand in Belt and Road countries, introducing the concept of Integrated Resource Planning (IRP), with an emphasis on user needs within BRI counties, in order to reduce excessive power development. The report also proposes the Principles for Green Power Cooperation (PGPC), including prioritizing renewable energy within BRI countries, using Laos and Pakistan as case studies. The GBRI Project team produced this report in cooperation with the China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute (EPPEI), focusing on international energy and power cooperation and working closely with BRI countries and Chinese SOEs in the energy and power sectors.
