On September 22, 2014, the China Coal Cap Project held a press conference introducing two research papers entitled "International Experience in Coal Consumption Reduction and Clean Coal Development" and "New Outlook on Energy Security and Asian Energy Governance Institutions." The first paper summarizes the experience and drivers of coal consumption reduction and clean coal develooment in the U.K., Germany, the United States, and Japan. The second provides a new outlook on energy security and argues that a regional Asian energy governance institution that combines the interests of countries that supply energy and countries that consume it could ensure regional and global energy security, not to mention accelerate China's coal reduction. Over 30 representatives from the media and NGOs attended the press conference.
