While China's power sector reform guidance documents affirmed the role of Demand Side Management (DSM) in achieving China's clean energy objectives, a roadmap for planning, funding and delivering DSM services has yet to be developed. To brainstorm on these issues, NRDC convened a roundtable of experts from research institutes, industry associations, energy service companies, and international NGOs on May 18, 2016. The roundtable kicked off with presentations showcasing opportunities for new technologies such as demand response, electric vehicle, and energy storage, and the experts then dived into specific questions and discussion on the paths for developing a more sustainable DSM mechanism for China.
