In order to increase the impact, influence, and synergy of international NGOs, the China programs of NRDC, Energy Foundation China, World Resources Institute, Institute for Sustainable Communities, and Environmental Defense Fund formed a coalition to promote urban sustainability in China. The first coalition meeting was held on June 16, 2014. NRDC led the compilation of common policy recommendations for green transportation, land use, and city management by researching common principles of 50 international organizations and over 40 related sample cases. The coaltion's short-term objective is to develop an international NGO document highlighting key lessons and principles for pursuing urban sustainability in China.
