Seminar on Mercury Pollution Prepares China for Global Action

NRDC hosted a seminar on the "Minamata Convention and China's Mercury Control Challenges" in Beijing on October 28, 2014, to raise awareness of mercury pollution and promote immediate mercury reduction in China. More than 30 participants from research institutes, universities, NGOs and media attended the seminar, where top researchers in mercury pollution and environmental health groups presentedr. The presentations were well received and the event was covered by China Environment News and China Economic Herald. The seminar was held a week before a Chinese delegation attended the sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC6) of the Minamata Convention on Mercury on November 3-7 in Bangkok, Thailand to discuss global mercury control plans.
