Creating Synergies for Accelerating China’s Power Sector Decarbonization

2018-08-01

NRDC, along with Energy Foundation China (EFC), organized a roundtable to explore synergies and to promote collaboration among the international community to support China’s low carbon power sector transition. The roundtable kicked off with NRDC’s presentation on power sector reform progress, as well as each organization’s introduction to their power sector related work. Participants then launched into a robust discussion on how to maximize their collective impacts on China’s power sector. Participants proposed developing a power sector resource map, organizing regular meetings for information exchange, coordinating more frequently to bring in outside experts, and seeking specific cases for collaboration in order to reach stakeholder targets. As a next step, NRDC and EFC will take the lead in organizing further exchanges and coordinating development of the resource map and gap analysis. This event was held on August 1. Participants included CIFF, the Environmental Defense Fund, Energy Foundation China, the World Resources Institute,GIZ, the Paulson Institute, the Regulatory Assistance Project, NRDC, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Rocky Mountain Institute, the UK Embassy, and the Danish Embassy.
