On October 23, the International Snow Leopard Day of 2020, NRDC joins the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Snow Leopard Protection Coalition initiated by the Qinghai Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Three-River-Source National Park Bureau and the Qianghai Bureau of Qilian Mountain National Park. Snow Leopard is the top predator and flagship species in the high mountains of Inner Asia. Sixty percent of the world's snow leopard habitat is located in China and sixty percent of all snow leopards live in these areas. Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the major habitat for snow leopards in China.  We need to work on increasing habitat connectivity and biodiversity, promoting cross region conservation efforts, engaging local communities to mitigate human-wildlife conflict, and developing sustainable livelihoods to better protect snow leopards and for a climate, ecological, and community-friendly Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
