NRDC’s Recommendations for Enhancing Information Disclosure and Encouraging EV Participation in Demand Response Programs

2021-05-20

To promote corporate disclosure of environmental and climate information , NRDC submitted comments to the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) in response to the request for public opinion about the updated  Standards for the Contents and Formats of Information Disclosure by Companies Offering Securities to the Public. The updated standards include some improvements to the ESG disclosure, including measures that require listed companies to add a new chapter of Environmental and Social Responsibility to their annual and semiannual reports, disclosure of all enforcement records for environmental violations, as well as encouraging the disclosure of carbon emission reduction efforts and their impacts. NRDC suggests to further enhance the disclosure requirement for listed companies by including climate-related risk information and companies’ greenhouse gas emission data. In addition, to fully realize EV’s potential as a flexible resource to the power grid, NRDC submitted public comments to China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) encouraging EV participation in demand response programs and the ancillary services market.
