On September 24, the Clean By Design, a project supported by NRDC, IFC and the Shaoxing local government, held a kickoff meeting in Shaoxing, a textile manufacturing hub in Zhejiang Province, one of the most developed provinces in China. Shaoxing government officials expressed their eagerness to cooperate with NRDC and multinational corporations, and speakers from Target, Walmart, and Gap introduced sustainable supply chain strategies to over 60 local suppliers of textile dyeing and printing. Other attendees included representatives from IKEA, The Jones Group, Solidaridad and Zhejiang Academy of Environmental Science.
