Wildlife Law & Governance Workshop IV: Book Launch

2021-07-26

The book entitled “Wildlife Crime Case Book” was released at the fourth workshop of NRDC's ongoing Wildlife Law and Governance series. The first-of-its kind book was published by the China Law Publishing House, the most influential publishing house for law books in China. The book includes a compilation and analysis of 31 wildlife crime cases, as well as expert commentary and insights, on innovative measures to protect endangered species from illegal trade. The book uses these cases to illustrate the highly specialized cross-border challenges faced by experts in the field and draws from them to offer policy, governance, and research recommendations.  This book is an output of the 2-year wildlife crime review project NRDC jointly conducted with the collaboration of the Research Institute of Environmental Law (RIEL) at Wuhan University, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and the Institute for Endangered Species Crimes at the National Forestry and Grasslands Administration.  The aim of this research is to build prosecutorial and judicial capacity for wildlife crimes.
