Mobilizing Active Climate Actions through Supply Chain

2021-10-21

On October 21, the 2021 Green Supply Chain & Climate Action Forum was held by the Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE) in collaboration with NRDC and other partners. IPE released the eighth Corporate Information Transparency Index (CITI) and the upgraded Climate Action Transparency Index (CATI) ranking results and annual report at the forum. The report demonstrates that more Chinese and foreign companies have begun to actively promote green supply chains to reduce pollution and carbon emissions in light of China’s carbon peaking and neutrality goals. The CITI index was jointly developed by IPE and NRDC to promote environmental performance improvement of prominent brands’ supply chains. NRDC experts had shared best practices for energy saving and provided on-site technical support to suppliers of Levi's and Dell – which ranked first in CITI and CATI respectively.

Representatives from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, foundations, environmental protection organizations, and 12 leading brands and suppliers participated in the forum. The event and report were covered by key Chinese media, including China Environmental News and the Paper.
