To foster international exchange  on the legal issues involving climate litigation as a judicial response to climate challenges, on November 19-20, NRDC supported the Institute of Law under the Shanghai Academy of Social Science (SASS) and organized the Annual International Forum of Environmental Rule of Law. The workshop aimed to facilitate in-depth discussion regarding the approaches, legal basis, causation, and form of judicial remedies that the courts can utilize to respond to climate issues. Experts from nine countries including U.S, Canada, U.K., France, Netherlands, Poland, Japan, Korea, and China participated in a broad and diverse discussion, which provided inspiration and insights for NRDC’s work in supporting the studies for the development of approaches and pathways for China’s judicial response to climate challenges.
