Oceans are crucial to global efforts to combat climate change.  NRDC and the Ocean Conservancy jointly prepared the Ocean-Climate Guide to Action. In order to motivate more countries to incorporate meaningful ocean-based mitigation and adaptation measures into their national plans, the report provides a variety of options, citing California's experience and lessons as a pioneer, including California's efforts to protect the natural carbon pool of marine and coastal habitats, reduce carbon emissions from ocean-based industries, and protect marine ecosystems and coastal communities from the severe impacts of climate change.
