This report by the Electric Power Development Research Institute of the China Electricity Council (CEC) builds on their previous report, Low-carbon Transition Practices of China Power Enterprises 2022, and further analyzes the low-carbon transition of Chinese power companies in three main areas: low-carbon business layout, emerging technology innovation, and business model cultivation. The analysis examines 27 representative companies to identify typical cases and best practices, based on available public data and references, combined with the companies’ annual low-carbon transition progress. The report evaluates the current issues and challenges as well as the outlook for the low-carbon transition of China’s power companies. NRDC supported the China Energy Research Society and the China Electricity Council (CEC) hosting the China Power Sector Low-Carbon Transition Annual Forum 2024, where the Electric Power Development Research Institute of CEC released its report.
