NRDC supported the Peking University Institute of Energy and the Shandong Heat Energy and Electric Power Design Institute in hosting a workshop on optimizing Shandong’s fleet of 300 MW coal-fired power units, at which Peking University Institute of Energy and Shandong Heat Energy and Electric Power Design Institute released a report on the development scale, strategies and objectives for the province’s 300 MW coal-fired power fleet. The report identifies the key challenges and offers solutions for balancing flexible peak shaving with stable heating, while aiming to further optimize Shandong’s coal power capacity structure, enhance the flexibility of its power system, facilitate higher integration of renewable energy, and ensure the safety and stability of the province's heating supply.
