NRDC and the Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute jointly organized a workshop on "The Development of Virtual Power Plants (VPPs): Contribution of Air Conditioners and Electric Vehicles," at which Suzhou China International Engineering Consulting Corp., Ltd. (Suzhou CIECC) released this report. Air conditioners and electric vehicles have become important factors behind the growth of peak loads and fluctuations in the power grid. Fully tapping into the flexible load adjustment potential of these two types of resources and mainstreaming VPP operations are critical for ensuring low-carbon power supply and increasing renewable energy consumption. As one of the pioneers of demand side management in China, Suzhou is accelerating the construction of various types of VPPs. This report focuses on the utilization of air conditioners and electric vehicles resources in Suzhou, analyzing and evaluating the current status and response potential of Suzhou's VPP. The report also proposes development paths and suggestions for furthering VPP development in Suzhou, providing valuable insights for the sustainable growth of VPPs across the country.
