NRDC and CIB Research released a report “Research on Mechanism and Innovation of Green Finance to Support Forest Carbon Sequestration” at “2023 Dual Carbon Finance Forum”, a high-level forum organized by China Industrial Bank (CIB), China Energy Research Society and IFC on June 5. NRDC China Conservation Director Hua Ning introduced the report findings. With a goal to enhance the forest targets in China’s climate NDC, the report is the first comprehensive review of relevant policies, standards, and innovative mechanisms, as well as green finance tools for forest carbon sequestration, including funds, bonds, insurance and stocks. The research also identified obstacles for green finance to support forest carbon sequestration and provided suggestions to the forestry, environment, and finance sectors accordingly. High-level officials from Beijing Municipal Government, National Administration of Financial Regulation, and National Energy Administration spoke at the forum.
