Cutting CO2 Emissions from Marine Fisheries

2023-11-10 Author: Wei Li

Capture fisheries are currently fully dependent on fossil fuels, and their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions is increasingly attracting attention. Prior to COP 28, China Fisheries News, the most important news outlet for fishery professionals, published an article by Li Wei at NRDC China Conservation team. The article, for the first time in Chinese media, reviewed the potential of fisheries for emission reduction and explained why sustainable fisheries management, such as TAC (Total Allowable Catch), is a pragmatic solution to reduce carbon emissions, achieve resource conservation and increase fishermen's income at the same time.

The article is only available in Chinese.
