2025 Edinburgh Ocean Leaders @Edinburgh Ocean Leaders
Li Wei, Senior Manager of the Conservation Project at NRDC China Program, is selected as one of the eight 2025 Edinburgh Ocean Leaders (EOL). She is the first Ocean Leader from China, joining a distinguished network of 48 leaders from 30 countries across five continents.
Hosted by the University of Edinburgh, the EOL program is designed to accelerate the leadership, creativity, and influence of exceptional mid-career ocean professionals committed to driving meaningful change for ocean health. Since its launch in 2020, the program has annually recognized eight outstanding individuals from diverse backgrounds—including marine conservation, fisheries management, climate adaptation, and the blue economy—to collaborate on innovative solutions addressing global ocean challenges.
As a fishery policy expert, Li Wei is specializing in comparative analysis of global fisheries governance systems. Working closely with NRDC colleagues and international fisheries specialists, she bridges global best practices and innovative tools to support China’s sustainable fisheries reform while contributing to the sustainable use of marine resources worldwide.
