On June 21st, NRDC successfully kicked off its 2nd wave of CBD mill projects for its new Rapid Expansion phase. Seven top apparel brands, including Under Armour, Target, and New Balance, recommended 45 vendors to participate in the program. The mill representatives attended the kick-off event in Hangzhou. Together, with forward-thinking brands and 100 targeted participating mills for the CBD-2018 project, NRDC is pioneering the largest coordinated environmental performance improvement program for textile mills for the newly established Apparel Impact Institute. NRDC will also develop a framework for rapidly scaling up programs like CBD in the apparel and home textile industry around the world. Clean by Design (CBD) is a green supply chain efficiency program which calls upon multinational apparel retailers and fashion brands to minimize the environmental impacts of their factories abroad.
