On December 21, the second annual Leaping Over the Age of Oil International Workshop, co-sponsored by China EV100 and NRDC, was held in Beijing. Six Oil Cap research reports were released at the workshop. One of the reports estimated that peaking China’s oil consumption by 2025 is expected to drive economic growth by 0.2% during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Experts emphasized that peaking the oil consumption during the 14th Five-Year Plan period is crucial in ensuring energy security, achieving the early peak of the country’s carbon emissions before 2030, and promoting high-quality economic and social development. More than 600 representatives from governments, research institutions, enterprises, and environmental protection organizations attended the workshop either in-person or online.
