On July 29th, Global Tiger Day, the first ever International Amur Tiger & Leopard Festival was organized by the Hunchun City Government with support from the Northeast Tiger & Leopard National Park Administration, NRDC, WCS, and other international and local conservation groups.  Much of Hunchun City itself lies within the National Park and is home to Amur tigers and leopards. 

NRDC was invited by the city government to give a speech at the festival’s forum to share thoughts and recommendations on Nature-friendly Community, an ongoing community policy research it is undertaking in collaboration with the park administration and local experts. In addition to its research, NRDC has also conducted trainings and convened key stakeholder roundtables to support Hunchun and the park administration in tiger conservation.
