To promote coordination between climate change and biodiversity conservation efforts, NRDC joined hands with the Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning(CAEP) to initiate a research project on mainstreaming the Nature-based Solution (NbS) into policies on climate change. To kick-off the project, NRDC organized a workshop on August 30th. Experts from CAEP, the National Land Remediation Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Research Institute of Forestry Technology and Information of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, IUCN, and TNC participated in the workshop. Participants discussed the concept, methods, metrics, and next steps of this research project. They also exchanged views on the concept and standards of NbS, shared case studies and good practices at domestic and abroad, and discussed the opportunities and challenges for promoting NbS under current carbon neutrality goal.
