To scale up the Responsible Sourcing Initiative, NRDC launched an intense effort this year to accelerate the adoption of CBD's Ten Best Practices by even more textile factories in China. The program is cooperating with the International Finance Corporation in Shaoxing city and Guangzhou area, both of which have a high density of mills. We carefully designed a program in each city that promoted the practicality of improving water and energy efficiency and reducing pollution among mill owners and managers, while educating government officials and local experts. From the 130 mills that participated, we received 37 factory improvement action plans, representing over 250 improvements implemented over the past few months. We are now conducting final evaluations of the active mills and technical reports, and will summarize cost-savings achievements in the next few months.
