On May 1, NRDC and the National Park Planning Research Institute of the National Forest and Grassland Administration (NPPRI), jointly published a new book on green and sustainable infrastructure construction in the national parks. This book selected some of the best practices for such construction in the protected areas in different countries to illustrate how to ensure the integrity of the nature without compromising people’s access. China announced the official establishment of the first batch of national parks last year and plans to announce more in the near future. Making infrastructure construction biodiverse and climate-friendly is an important priority for the development of the protected-area system in China, and this book provides some timely solutions. NRDC is further working with this partner on developing a green standard for such construction.
