JingJing Qian works to promote energy efficiency, clean energy use, and stronger environmental policies in China. Since joining NRDC in 2002, she has focused on strengthening the country’s energy and environmental policy, particularly as it relates to urbanization and smart growth, green buildings, and carbon capture and storage. She moved to the Beijing office in 2008 to lead NRDC’s China Program and stepped back from the position at the end of 2020. She continues to be with NRDC’s China Program as a senior strategic advisor. Previously, Qian worked for the United Nations Children’s Fund and the United Nations Development Programme and served in China’s Ministry of Science and Technology. She holds a master’s degree in environmental technology from Imperial College London, and a second master’s in chemical engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
