Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technology is a potential solution for addressing process emissions from limestone in cement production. Limestone, the main raw material, generates carbon emissions during cement manufacturing, which CCUS can help mitigate to support the industry’s net-zero goals. NRDC’s partner, China Building Materials Federation conducted research on the development of CCUS in China’s cement industry. The report outlines the status of CCUS projects in China’s cement industry, compares domestic and international policies and standards, and provides recommendations to address gaps in project management, policy support, and standardization.
