On Earth Day, NRDC received a delegation of Chinese building officials and organized visits to the Bank of America Tower, the first high-rise office building that attained LEED platinum certification, and the Empire State Building, the renowned deep retrofitted high-rise building. The delegation was impressed by the cutting-edge and human-centric technologies demonstrated in these two buildings, and NRDC's introduction of New York's building energy efficiency programs and benchmarking policy also incited a warm response from the delegation. The delegation identified key strategies that they could use to further building energy efficiency policy objectives in Shanghai and expressed their desire to further collaborate with NRDC.
