EcoPartnerships Agreement Signed to Help Reduce Electricity Demand in Beijing

2013-07-11

NRDC was selected as one of six U.S.-China EcoPartnerships in 2013 for our collaboration with the Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Center (BEEC) to support Beijing’s demand-side management pilot program. On July 11, 2013, representatives of NRDC China Program and BEEC attended the official ceremony hosted by the U.S. State Department to sign an agreement to help Beijing reduce or shift 800 MW of electricity demand over the next three years. NRDC will provide expertise from the U.S. and work with BEEC to expand large-scale energy efficiency programs in the building and industrial sectors in Beijing. We will also identify and promote Beijing’s best practices in order to replicate the program in other cities across China.
