NRDC was invited to deliver a speech on global and country-wide incentive schemes for promoting green shipping at a seminar organized by the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA) on September 19, 2017. Dr. Peng Chuansheng from the Waterborne Transport Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport also presented at the seminar. His presentation focused on mandatory regulations, incentive policies and technologies as well as perspectives on future policies in mainland China. There were more than 20 audiences participated in the seminar, including officials from Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department and HKSOA members (industrial representatives like shipping companies). This seminar aimed to discuss the potential for developing incentive programs, to encourage ship owners to go beyond regulatory regulations and to promote the communication between stakeholders in Hong Kong and mainland China.
